Music festivals and their rowdy crowds inevitably have a negative impact on the environment. Luckily, numerous organizers are increasingly aware of this issue and are attempting to lessen the undesirable consequences. One of the main protagonists in this field is Claire O’Neill, whose fascination with rave culture led her to focus on this topic more seriously. Later, she (co-)founded the A Greener Festival non-profit, which bestows the award for the most environmentally conscious festival, among other things. In addition, she has organised the Green Events & Innovations Conference in London for ten years running, and gets her adrenaline boost by being an aerial trapeze acrobat at Arcadia Spectacular.
